Public governance standard
Methodology & Editorial Standards
How Arqom sources, evaluates, analyses and governs Market Intelligence.
Our approach
Evidence first.
Judgement clearly identified.
Arqom Market Intelligence is designed to provide professionally governed market intelligence, analytical commentary and forward-looking assessment relevant to international markets and cross-border commercial activity. Our objective is not simply to reproduce available news or market information, but to distinguish what is established, reported, observed, inferred, estimated, forward-looking and uncertain.
Scope of Arqom Market Intelligence
This methodology applies to Weekly Market Intelligence, Strategic Monthly Review, Special Briefs, Market Alerts, thematic and regional analysis, market outlooks, scenario analysis and related analytical exhibits.
Coverage may include macroeconomics, central-bank policy, banking and liquidity, funding, rates, FX, energy and petroleum, commodities and precious metals, trade and trade finance, sanctions, regulation, geopolitical market transmission, settlement and transaction-relevant conditions.
Core Editorial Principles
Material factual statements should be supported by evidence appropriate to the proposition. The strength of a conclusion should not exceed the strength of the evidence supporting it. Professional scepticism is applied to extraordinary claims, commercially interested representations, purported bank approvals, unusual funding or settlement claims, anonymous sourcing, intermediary representations and documents of uncertain provenance.
Uncertainty is treated as an analytical fact and disclosed where material.
Facts, Reported Information and Arqom Analysis
Arqom classifies material information as Verified Fact, Market Data, Reported Information, Arqom Analysis, Estimate, Outlook, Scenario or Risk Indicator. These classifications are based on substance rather than rhetorical wording.
A widely repeated claim does not become verified merely through repetition, and a confidently expressed forecast remains a forecast.
Source Hierarchy
Arqom uses a risk-based source hierarchy. The hierarchy indicates presumptive evidentiary weight; it does not make every statement from a higher-tier source automatically complete or suitable for every analytical purpose.
Legislation, regulators, central banks, statistical authorities, ministries, sanctions authorities, courts and official registries.
Recognised exchanges, benchmark administrators, regulated venues, issuer filings, audited statements, official announcements, rating agencies and recognised market-data providers.
Established international financial news organisations, institutional research, recognised legal and economic analysis and specialist professional publications.
Commodity specialists, brokers, traders, shipping/logistics professionals, consultants and other participants with relevant market proximity.
Social media, forums, messaging applications, unattributed commentary, screenshots, forwarded documents and other information of uncertain provenance. Normally an investigative lead, not sufficient standalone evidence for a material factual assertion.
Primary Sources and Corroboration
Where a competent and accessible primary source exists, Arqom ordinarily uses it to establish the underlying fact. Arqom does not apply a mechanical two-source rule. The appropriate verification standard depends upon materiality, source authority, independence, consequence of error, subject sensitivity and availability of primary evidence.
Evidence is weighted, not merely counted.
Banking and Institutional Claims
Statements concerning banks and regulated financial institutions are subject to heightened scrutiny. Bank logos, SWIFT/BIC identifiers, account information, screenshots, forwarded correspondence or intermediary representations do not constitute sufficient standalone evidence of institutional approval or commitment.
General banking practice is distinct from institution-specific approval.
Market Data Standards
Arqom distinguishes real-time, delayed, official close, settlement, end-of-day, indicative, preliminary, revised and estimated data. Delayed information is not represented as real-time.
Where relevant, material observations are assessed by source, timestamp, timezone, currency, unit, instrument, contract specification and pricing convention.
Publication Cut-Off
Arqom distinguishes Reporting Period, Data Observation Time, Editorial Cut-Off and Publication Date.
Post-cut-off information is not silently inserted in a manner that creates retrospective foresight.
Analytical Methodology
The analytical process ordinarily moves through Observation → Context → Transmission Mechanism → Implication → Risk → Scenario → Monitoring Requirement.
Arqom distinguishes correlation from causation, considers alternative explanations where material and identifies conditions capable of weakening or invalidating the current assessment.
Forecasts and Scenarios
Forecasts and scenarios are used to structure uncertainty, not eliminate it. Base, Upside, Downside and Stress cases may be used where analytically useful.
Numerical probabilities are not assigned merely to create an appearance of precision.
The Arqom Transaction Lens
The Transaction Lens translates macro, market, regulatory and geopolitical developments into potential implications for bankability, funding, liquidity, settlement, FX exposure, commodity pricing, documentation, sanctions, counterparty sensitivity, jurisdiction, collateral, timing and execution friction.
Transaction-level conclusions require transaction-level verification.
Sanctions, Regulation and Legal Information
Material legal, sanctions and regulatory developments are verified against competent primary sources wherever reasonably practicable. Arqom distinguishes proposal, adoption, publication, entry into force, implementation and enforcement, and treats jurisdiction as material.
Market-level legal or regulatory analysis is not a substitute for transaction-specific specialist advice.
Confidential Information and Market Integrity
Public Market Intelligence and confidential transaction activity remain appropriately separated.
Confidential access is not a publishing licence.
Conflicts of Interest
Arqom identifies and assesses actual, potential and perceived conflicts. Analytical conclusions should be determined by evidence and methodology rather than by the commercial desirability of a particular outcome.
Disclosure is not automatically sufficient to cure a material conflict.
Use of Artificial Intelligence and Analytical Technology
AI and analytical technology may assist research, source discovery, calculations, comparison, translation, drafting and quality control. AI-generated output is not treated as authoritative evidence merely because it is detailed or plausible.
Arqom remains responsible for the published result.
Corrections and Updates
Arqom distinguishes Minor Editorial Correction, Substantive Correction, Material Correction, Analytical Update, Restatement and Withdrawal.
Material errors are not silently rewritten. Material corrections and substantive updates are recorded through the Corrections & Updates framework.
Publication Governance
Substantive publications are subject to controls proportionate to urgency, complexity and materiality, including evidence collection, factual verification, editorial review, conflict/confidentiality review, regulatory classification, approval, controlled publication and post-publication monitoring.
Where genuine second-person review is not available, self-review is not represented as independent review. Proportionate compensating controls are applied and documented.
Regulatory Perimeter
Each publication is subject to a publication-specific regulatory perimeter assessment. Arqom does not rely solely upon disclaimers or document titles when assessing regulatory character.
Arqom does not imply regulated investment-research status unless separately established.
Records and Traceability
For material publications, Arqom seeks to preserve a sufficient internal record to reconstruct principal sources, data, calculations, assumptions, analytical judgements, conflicts assessment, review, approval and corrections.
The objective is practical auditability of the analytical record.
Important Information
Arqom Market Intelligence is prepared for general informational and analytical purposes and is not a substitute for transaction-specific KYC, KYB, AML review, sanctions screening, counterparty due diligence, credit analysis, legal review, bank confirmation, asset verification or execution assessment.
Forward-looking statements, scenarios and estimates are inherently uncertain and do not constitute guarantees of future outcomes.
Our editorial standard
Support what we publish.
Evidence before assertion. Facts and judgement remain separate. Authority outweighs repetition. Time matters. Uncertainty is disclosed. Commercial interests do not determine analytical conclusions. Confidential access is not a publishing licence. Material errors are corrected transparently.
Arqom Market Intelligence is prepared for general informational and analytical purposes. It does not, unless separately and appropriately governed, constitute personalised investment advice, legal, tax or banking advice, an offer, solicitation, recommendation, commitment, bank undertaking or assurance of transaction availability or performance.
